About Us

Marcel and Kelly Boers both grew up in rural southwestern Ontario to hard-working, Christian families. Marcel is from Ancaster, Ontario and grew up on a small hobby farm. He is the third out of four children, and was home-schooled along with his siblings until grade 8. When he was young, he was always fascinated by the airplanes making their final approach into the nearby Hamilton Airport, and enjoyed attending the annual airshows.

This fascination influenced Marcel to pursue a career as an aircraft maintenance engineer as well as obtaining a private pilot license. After completing 5 years with Air Canada Jazz as an AME, Marcel has decided to apply his skills and abilities with MAF, and looks forward to where God will bring him and his wife Kelly. Marcel also enjoys playing hockey and golf when time permits it.

Kelly was raised on a farm near Blenheim, Ontario. She accepted Christ in elementary school and continued to follow him throughout high school and university. While attending Nipissing University for Environmental Geography, she spent five months in South Africa on a study abroad trip.

It was there that she developed an interest in serving overseas, but it wasn’t until she attended the Urbana Missions Conference in 2009 that she felt God calling her into missions. She attended teachers college at Western University, and continued to serve God in southern Ontario through supply teaching and camp ministries.

Marcel and Kelly met during their post-secondary education in North Bay. Together, they attended Urbana Missions Conference in 2009, where they felt God’s call to missions through MAF. They were married in February of 2012, with the dream of entering the mission field together. Since that time, they have lived and worked in London, Ontario, serving as youth leaders and ushers at their church.
